Gallery of photographs of the bacteria grown from each volunteer's soil sample.
What type of bacteria were found in the soil samples, and whether this is affected by how the soil is treated.
The proportion of bacteria found that produce metal-binding compounds, and whether this is affected by how the soil has been treated.

If you are a volunteer who sends in a soil sample, you will have access to your own results and be able to see how they compare to the whole dataset. You will also receive a printed photograph of your soil bacteria.

The Dig for Dirt project is led by Dr. Elze Hesse at the University of Exeter and funded by a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship. The web portal and project running are led by the non-profit organisation Then Try This.
